Engage in the serene, time-honored practice of Sashiko Japanese Embroidery. We'll use a simple running stitch to transform linen into a small, embellished, and practical bag. Choose from traditional Sashiko Moyozashi patterns: ocean waves, seven treasures, triangles, wild grasses, plus emblematic floral motifs. We will hand sew the two decorated fabric panels into a fully functional drawstring pouch with a French pull. Use it for stowing precious objects or as an aromatic sachet. All tools and materials are provided. This class is open to all skill levels, from novice to experienced stitcher. Please bring your good reading glasses!
Each take-home class kit will include a pair of needles, a skein of Sashiko thread, a pair of linen fabric squares, ribbons for the drawstring, locally sourced bees’ wax and dried lavender, and pattern instructions plus access to all the communal workshop supplies.
