From 10 am until 12 pm
At Zoom Meeting
$150 + materials. This is a 4 session class.
Saturdays from 10:00 - noon PT on May 21; June 4; June 18; June 25. Classes will be recorded, and the recording made available to students for one week after each class.
Kim will take us on an adventure in custom shawl design, using her book, "Custom Shawls for the Curious and Creative Knitter" (written with Kate Atherley) as a guide. The goal of the class is to show knitters how to customize patterns and create their own designs, working with such considerations as color, shape, yarn type, and pattern. In the end, you'll have the confidence to go off-road on your knitting path.
Class 1) Shape - we will knit mini samples of a few basic shapes;
Class 2) Color theory - how color works in shawls;
Class 3) Stitch patterns - how to fit stitch patterns into a shape, incorporating new stitches into your pattern;
Class 4) Going rogue - breaking the rules we’ve talked about, and doing something completely unique.
Supplies and materials: Yarn requirements will vary, depending on the size of your shawl, and the weight of your chosen yarn. Enrolled students will receive information about yarn choice and amounts. Please note: Kim's book is for sale in the shop, and would be helpful though not required for this class.
